Log periodic antenna is a directional antenna with a wide operating frequency range. Its uniqueness lies in its electrical properties, such as impedance and directional patterns, which repeat logarithmically and periodically with frequency.

    Characteristics:

    1. Broadband characteristics: This is its most prominent advantage. A single log periodic antenna can cover a very wide frequency range (such as 10:1 or even wider), and can operate in multiple frequency bands without tuning.
    2. Directional radiation: It has directionality, like a "flashlight", which concentrates energy in one direction for emission and can better receive signals from that direction, resulting in high gain and strong anti-interference ability.
    3. Structural characteristics: Composed of a series of metal oscillators with varying lengths and spacing, the size and position of these oscillators follow strict logarithmic periodic laws. The longest oscillator determines the lowest operating frequency, and the shortest oscillator determines the highest operating frequency.
    4. Working principle: For a specific frequency, only a part of the "resonant unit" of the antenna is effectively excited and participates in radiation, and this area is called the "effective zone". When the frequency changes, this effective area will move back and forth on the antenna structure.

    Applications:

    1. TV reception: Early outdoor TV reception antennas commonly used this type.
    2. Omnidirectional radio range monitoring.
    3. Electromagnetic compatibility testing: Used as a transmitting or receiving antenna in a dark room for radiation emission and radiation immunity testing.
    4. Short wave communication: Used as a directional communication antenna in the short wave band.
    5. RF monitoring and direction finding: Used for scanning and monitoring signals over a wide frequency range.

Qualwave supplies log periodic antennas cover the frequency range up to 6GHz, as well as customized log periodic antennas according to customers requirements.
